Famous for the festival of Eyō, which takes place at midnight on the third Saturday in February. Ten thousand naked young people try to seize a shingi, a symbol of happiness, while water water them. The temple is still called Kannon-ji, because it is dedicated to the deity with the thousand arms. To get there, take a bus from Okayama bus station (opposite the train station) towards Saidai-ji and get off at Ryōbi (45 min).
