After leaving Martouni, and the main road along the southern shore, you have to take a small road that goes southwards into the slopes of the Vardenis Mountains, and cross the village of Nerkin Kédachen, which itself contains a number of khatchkars around the monastery of Kotavank (9th century), to discover the village of Gekhovit. There is an important site of funerary stelae, less ancient than that of Noradouz, but the khatchkars still date from the 15th-16th centuries. The road continues beyond it towards the Selim Pass, which connects the basin of the Sevan to South Armenia. At nearly 2,400 m, the pass has recently become passable.
