Located 30 km east of Ruovesi, on road no. 344 towards Vilppula, this industrial town is well worth a visit, not least for the Serlachius museums. Take a stroll through the town and visit the church. In 2009, the municipality merged with the town of Vilppula to become Mänttä-Vilppula. Mänttä-Vilppula is a pleasant stopover on your way from Tampere, and you'll find plenty of suggestions for activities on the dedicated tourism website (https://visittaidekaupunki.fi/en/): museums (history, schools...), festivals (art, music, food...) and a great selection of trails!
