The capital and main attraction of the canton of Nidwalden, Stans is the starting point for the panorama of the Stanserhorn, which at 1900 m altitude offers a superb kaleidoscope of colors, from the green of pastures and forests to the blue of lakes and sky and the white of eternal snow. On a clear day, the panoramic view extends as far as the Black Forest. Access is by cable car. During your stay, you can also take a look at the church, with its Romanesque bell tower and Baroque interior, and visit the local history museum. Homestay is also available.
