This Silesian town northwest of Wrocław, close to the border, founded by the Piast and then Germanic until 1945 under the name of Grünberg (it belonged to Bohemia, the Habsburgs, Prussia, and then to the Reich), is dynamic and pleasant and has a charming old town, with a cheerful atmosphere, and an interesting museum that exhibits the works of Marian Kruczek. It is also said to be the northernmost wine town in Europe, and the wine harvest festival (Winobranie) has been celebrated uninterruptedly since 1842. It is a very pleasant stop if you come from Germany, as the amount of German tourists in the summer season indicates.
