Situated on the international route from Germany to Ukraine, Rzeszów is the capital of the region, second only to Krakow and a large city with almost 200,000 inhabitants. Today's metropolis has a long history that goes back almost seven hundred years. Founded in 1354 at the crossroads of trade routes, it soon became the point of contact of European cultures from the Byzantine East and the Mediterranean West, but also the meeting place of travelers from southern and northern Europe and today the gateway to the European Union. It is a major industrial center for armaments.
