This small town, older than Nowy Sącz, from which it is 10 kilometers to the south, was once a crossing point on the trade route between Krakow and Budapest and an important monastic site (convent of the Poor Clares). Although it has not developed like its neighbor, it has retained a certain charm that will interest lovers of medieval architecture, although a rather aggressive restoration gives the whole a cardboard look. The city is very sleepy and sees far fewer tourists than its neighbor, except at the time of its festival of ancient music which takes place every year at the beginning of July.Very small, the center of Stary Sącz retains the charm of pre-war Poland. It can be visited very quickly. Leaving the Rynek, after a stop at the Regional Museum, continue along Daszyńskiego Street to the Poor Clare Monastery. From here, you can return to the Rynek along the tree-lined Kazimierza Wielkiego pedestrian street. It leads to the church, which since 1975 has been the venue for the Early Music Festival. On the corner of the street, there is a nice market of regional products.About ten kilometers south of Stary Sącz, in Wola Krogulecka, there is a fabulous panoramic terrace(Platforma widokowa) in the form of a circular walkway with a magnificent view of the Beskid valleys.
