At the foot of a mountain range lies the region's largest conurbation (215,000 inhabitants). In the 12th century, Kielce was one of the residences of the bishops of Krakow. Today, it's a pleasant, dynamic student town, with a cultural center and several houses dedicated to music, theater, photography and dance. Kielce is not a tourist stopover, but its proximity to the Swiętokrzyskie National Park makes it a strategic one, which does not exclude a visit to the city. A pleasant afternoon is spent here. On the outskirts of Kielce, the Tokarnia skansen is also worth a visit.Kielce is famous for its karst landscape. On the outskirts of the city, there are footpaths leading to some very unusual sites, such as the Paradise Cave and the Kadzielna nature reserve.
