16 km north of Kalisz, Gołuchów is home to a magnificent 16th-century castle, rebuilt in the 19th century in the manner of the Loire castles, in a style typical of the French Renaissance. This remarkable castle is an integral part of the Poznań National Museum, giving it great historical and cultural significance. Its many rooms feature authentic Greek vases, medieval and classical paintings and sculptures, as well as magnificent hangings. Surrounding the manor house is an attractive landscaped park, including an enclosure of European bison, an emblematic species of Polish fauna.
