Travel Guide Grunwald

20 km south-west of Olsztynek, on the territory of the village of Stębark, lies the famous Grunwald battlefield, where on July 15, 1410, the Lithuanian-Polish coalition and the knights of the Teutonic Order clashed. It was one of the most important medieval battles of the millennium. Today, a large memorial has been built here, including a museum and a cinema (showing short films on the subject, slightly tinged with Polish propaganda). Every year, a large-scale re-enactment takes place over several days, bringing together brotherhoods of knights from all over Europe.
