Located around 140 km from Warsaw, Łódź is one of the country's most densely populated cities. Far from resembling the peaceful medieval towns common to the region, it is instead a veritable boomtown, born in the 19th century and spared from destruction during the war. The city itself is a significant part of Poland's industrial heritage. Łódź is also, and above all, the capital of Polish cinema, with its renowned national film school, studios and sets. Łódź doesn't have the reputation of a charming city, yet its singularity is well worth the detour!
