Buxheim is a village of 3 300 inhabitants located north of Memmingen (about 5 km). His monastery made him famous. It was built in 1402 and the brothers Zimmermann made it the th century of its magnificent frescoes rich in colour. Johannet and Dominikus Zimmermann also decorated the two churches located in the vicinity of the monastery: Sainte-Anne Chapel and Saint Peter Church.
