At an altitude of 243 m and 50 km south of Eisenstadt, this large town is an important crossroads on the road to Hungary, whose border crossings are some 20 km away. Although welcoming, Oberpullendorf lacks any real character, and lies at the heart of a green, undulating landscape. Wooded hills, fields and lush orchards are dominated by the Geschriebenstein, which at 884 m is the highest point in Burgenland. The region enjoys a particularly mild climate and plenty of sunshine. All of which attract visitors who are also attracted by the many sporting activities on offer.
