The Basilica de la Naissance-de-Marie, also known as Maria auf der Heide, Sainte-Marie-de-la-Lande, is a superb 17th-century Baroque building. It is an important place of pilgrimage. Prince Esterházy is credited with the building's endowment and had it richly decorated with many valuable works, including a BlackMadonna. Here you're close to the vast, wild steppe lake of Neusiedl, an attractive natural site, especially in summer.
