Veszprém is a millennium town, 20 km from the north shore of Lake Balaton, surrounded by the Bakony mountains and built on several rocky outcrops. The highest is the castle hill (the old town) which dominates the Sed torrent at the bottom of its canyon. The viaduct, 50 m above the Sed, offers the most beautiful view of the city. The winding winding alleys are almost all heading towards Veszprém Castle. It was built on an ideal site for the defense of the city. At the top of the castle hill, between its fortified walls and church towers, buildings classified as historic monuments are hidden.
