The historic town, named after the patron saint of Linz, is situated 21 km south of Linz and is known for its eponymous abbey, one of the most famous in Austria. The town of almost 5,500 inhabitants has become a residential community in the suburbs of Linz. Sankt Florian is famous for its classical music concerts with internationally renowned artists and ensembles. The village is also the location of the largest and heaviest bell in Austria, the Pummerin, which weighs 20 tons and was cast and installed in the Stephansdom in Vienna. The Linz golf course is located in this community.
