The National Low Tatras Park has been in existence since 1978. Extending 80 km from west to east is 30 km from north to south, it is Slovakia's largest protected area (81 095 hectares). It is surrounded by the valleys of the Váh and the Vallées valley, which offers the most spectacular scenery. The lowest part of this massif is also the most wild, with an impressive number of bears as well as lynx, wolves and many other wild animals.Covered at 70% of forests, this mountainous region is one of the favourites of the Slovaks, which is why it is much attended. The Low Tatras are crossed by numerous beautiful hiking trails. One of the most attractive hikes by Strbske Mikuláš and reach Jasna by the splendid Vallée valley. In winter, Jasna is also very popular thanks to its ski resort below the two highlights of this Massif (2024 m) and Dumbier (2043 m) massif. It is also possible to ski in the Bystrá valley in Jasna, a station with very good infrastructure.
