Ten kilometers east of Kroměříž is the Jewish ghetto of Holešov, which in the 19th century was home to the largest Jewish community in Moravia. This is evidenced by the Shah synagogue (16th century), whose interior is well preserved, and the Jewish cemetery, which houses thousands of graves, the oldest of which dates back to 1657. Today the city has just under 12,000 inhabitants according to the latest census, slightly more than before the Second World War, but the Jewish community has completely disappeared from the map, deported during the conflict or exiled, for the luckiest, before the beginning of hostilities. Bus from Zlin or Kroměříž.
