This important city, crossed by the Sázava, is a crossroads between Bohemia and Moravia. The (very) small, well-preserved historical center is charming with its small streets lined with beautiful gabled houses bearing pretty names: Malina, the Golden Lion... The frescoes and the William bell - the oldest in the country (14th century) - of its massive church (13th century, then remodeled) are worth a visit. If you wish to stay in this charming village while exploring the region, the tourist office will be able to provide you with maps and suggest homestays, as the few hotels have a limited capacity.
