The largest town in Dorset, Bournemouth is the archetypal seaside resort, entirely devoted to yachting. Every year, the town attracts large numbers of revellers, stag and hen parties, families and holidaymakers. All attracted mainly by the immense beach for which it is famous. For the record, it was in 1810 that Captain Lewis Tregonwell's wife fell in love with the region's healthy climate and settled here with her husband, who went on to found the town. The town's main attractions are its beautiful location, its relaxed lifestyle and its proximity to the Jurassic Coast. The Lower Gardens are not to be missed.
