Bristol is the largest city in south-west England. Its large student population keeps the city moving, both in terms of nightlife and the arts. Bristol is the birthplace of trip-hop. It's also the location for many films and TV series, including the controversial Skins. Aardman Studios, creators of the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit, also call Bristol home. Originally, the town developed thanks to its port. In 1497, John Cabot left Bristol on a voyage to discover New Foundland, Greenland. From then on, Bristol became England's leading Atlantic trading port.
