In the afternoon, it's also the place to go for a coffee, accompanied by cakes and other sweets. The place is very bright and you can watch passers-by from the inside, which is very pleasant.

Charles II is said to have spent many a cosy night here with his ravishing mistress, Nell Gwynne. The walls are home to poems written here by James Thomson (1700-1748), as well as the hustle and bustle of English capital life. An inevitably delightful interlude, The Dove, with its preserved old-world charm, harbors a part of London's eternal soul.

In 2023, we were charmed by this establishment, which looks modest from the outside, but proves to be a pleasant surprise once seated. The menu offers an appreciable variety, allowing everyone to find what they like while making a quick choice. Service is efficient, pleasant and discreet. Reservations are recommended for evenings and weekends, as this is a popular spot. It's a good little local address, with no fuss, just the way we like it.

The Culpeper offers an elegant travel experience, with a pub on the first floor, rooms to let on the second floor, a superb rooftop terrace, and above all, an excellent restaurant on the second floor that won our hearts. Nestled in a magnificent Victorian house, the establishment reflects simplicity and elegance in every detail. The menu, concise and perfectly mastered, follows the seasons and features a delicious weekend roast, which turns heads as soon as it leaves the establishment's open kitchen.
