Anomabu is a small town on the coast just before Cape Coast when coming from Accra. It also has a British fort, Fort Williams, which can be visited. There used to be a second one, the Charles Fort, an important center for the deportation of slaves, built in 1674 and then destroyed in favor of the more strategically located Cape Coast Fort. The beach of Anomabu is very pretty, as well as the one, a little further, of the small village of Biriwa. Anomabu has a festival, like many places in the region: that of the "asafo companies", a particularity of the Fante ethnic group, dominant in the Central Region. These companies are made up of former warrior groups. They can be seen in all their splendor during traditional festivals, but their presence is important in the whole region through their richly decorated posoban (tomb-mausoleums). For accommodation in town, we recommend the Anomabo Beach Resort, ideally located on the beachfront.
