Macroom is a stopover on the N22 between Cork and Killarney, on the Kerry road. The village is worth a stop to visit the ruins of its castle. On the way to Bantry, you can stop at Dunmanway, a charming village located near the Shehy Mountains, to visit the Ballinacarriga Castle (16th century). Otherwise, to the west, Gougane Barra is a very small village that does not look like much. It is here that the Lee River has its source. Nature lovers will find here the first Irish national park. They can enjoy trout fishing. Otherwise, you should visit the hermitage of Saint Finbarre, founder of Cork
