Located 35 km from the Norwegian border and 380 m above sea level in a valley in northern Lapland, the tiny town of Abisko is divided into two parts, 2 km apart, overlooking the metallic blue waters of Lake Torne Träsk. The village of Abisko Östra itself is devoid of charm. It is only a few small houses, with a petrol pump, a mini-market, a small hotel and a train station located on the Luleå-Narvik train line via Kiruna. Here you can get some food and drink (sparingly) before arriving at Abisko National Park, located two kilometers away. The surroundings of Abisko are suitable for several hikes of all levels. Situated between lake and mountain, all kinds of landscapes are available to you. Several hikes are organized from Abisko Turistation (2 km from Abisko Östra) with experienced guides who will show you the specificities of the surroundings with passion.
