Travel Guide Riksgränsen

Riksgränsen is a village and winter sports resort in the northwestern part of Kiruna municipality. The village is located on the Swedish side of the national border with Norway, about 140 km from the urban area of Kiruna. The national border is located above Lake Vassijaur and also includes a stop on the Malmbanan railroad. The Saami villages of Gabna and Talma surround the village. The hotel Riksgränsen is the biggest employer and is very successful because of the ski resort of the same name. As a ski resort, Riksgränsen is very popular because it is located in the wettest area of the country, and therefore the snowiest. Here, off-piste skiing is the order of the day.
