KAGGES

Swedish restaurant €€

The restaurant's chefs, Kalle and Dogge, are free to create their own dishes according to the season and the mood. We sit at the bar to watch them prepare their tasty dishes using local produce. The combinations are original, surprising and delicious, and the products are of a rare quality. The dishes are medium-sized, so you'll need to choose two or three to get your fill, but the menu takes this into account. Cosy, relaxed atmosphere, ideal for an intimate dinner.

RICHE

Bistro and brasserie €€

It serves Swedish-inspired French specialties and is one of the best restaurants in the capital. Right in the center of "petit Paris", this distinguished restaurant dates back to 1893 and is housed on the first floor of an 18th century building. Very tasty cuisine, it is the occasion to taste a lamb fillet in a herb crust with potato and fennel terrine or a smoked salmon with fennel and marinated yellow beets. The daily specials are very affordable and some vegetarian dishes are on the menu.

GILDAS RUM

Swedish restaurant

A beautiful cafe located on the pretty Nytorget square, with a 1970s Parisian influence: floral patterns alternate with striped wallpaper in red and gold tones and trompe l'oeil library walls. Comfortable armchairs give the feeling of an old reading room. Large colored lanterns create a subdued atmosphere. Nice welcome, homemade pastries and sandwiches at reasonable prices. An obligatory point of passage when walking in SoFo, to have lunch or simply to drink a coffee. A charming place that you won't forget!

The heart of the old town has long been home to traditional Swedish cuisine. Founded in 1722, Den Gyldene Freden, meaning Golden Peace, is a true institution, owned by the Swedish Academy which selects the Nobel Prize for Literature. The restaurant belonged to the famous painter Anders Zorn and was the favourite restaurant of the artist-composer Evert Taube. Here you can enjoy high quality Nordic gourmet cuisine in an elegant 18th century restaurant with antique furniture.

Welcome to the island of Djugården, once a hunting ground for Swedish kings. Now it is home to important museums and Swedes flock here to enjoy the lush nature in the city centre. And if, on your way out of Skansen or around a wooded path, you miraculously hear the sound of the troubadour Bellman's love ballad, follow that melody, for you will be blessed by the Swedish culinary tradition that the Ulla Windbladh restaurant approaches in all simplicity. Refined and intimate setting.

PELIKAN

Swedish restaurant €€
3.5/5
2 reviews

This 19th century style restaurant is housed in an old building (rare enough to note) on Södermalm. Pelikan's history dates back to the 17th century and it moved to Beklingegatan in 1960. The clientele today is still a mixture of what it was over the centuries: workers, students, middle-class people live together in this place, under a 5 m high ceiling. The food is typically Swedish with herrings, anchovies, smoked reindeer or the traditional köttbollar (meatballs) with cranberries. A very busy place.

TAK

Japanese restaurant €€

Put a chef of good repute, an award winning bartender, a Norwegian hotelier, Swedish sake sommeliers, shake up the concept and you get the right mix to create Stockholm's current hotspot, Tak! We clearly go there for the view of the city which is exceptional as it is a rooftop located on top of a brutalist architecture hotel, in the heart of the city, a few steps from Sergels Torg. Very good choice of drinks, from Japanese yuzu lager to sparkling sake and Eurasian cocktails. The star of the menu: the fish!

LILLA CAFÉET PÅ SÖDER

Swedish restaurant

Discreetly located on Ringvägen, Södermalm's longest street, it's easy to pass by this "Little Café of Söder" without noticing it. This would be a great mistake, however, because when you push open the door of this modest stall, you discover an extremely welcoming place. The interior is a little bohemian, relaxed and the staff adorable. You can eat simple, home-made pastries at affordable prices: kanelbullar, carrot cakes or chocolate cakes... In short, this is a little haven not to be missed!
