On the borders of Benin, a few kilometers from Nigeria, the town of Kétou was the capital of a powerful Yoruba kingdom headed by an Ala (Alakétu), i.e. a king of the lineage of Odudua, the mythical ancestor who created Ifé. The city of Kétou has traditionally maintained an intense trade with Nigeria. Located in a Muslim country, this Beninese city appears to be a rather welcoming stopover, even if, it must be admitted, its inhabitants are still not used to the presence of tourists. As one can imagine, few of them speak French and communication with the locals can be difficult
