This large village of 1,300 inhabitants has developed around its port. Vestmanna is also where the archipelago gets some of its electricity. The huge pipeline that cuts through the mountain in the background carries water that flows from a lake behind the mountain, down the steep slope above the town to turn the turbines of the hydroelectric plant. The terrain is particularly rugged, the road from Vetstmanna to Tórshavn almost takes you into the clouds! To the north of the city, enormous cliffs pierced by caves and sea caves are a must-see.
