North-east of Vejle, on the eponymous Fjord, Horsens has preserved beautiful houses from the 18th century. This thousand year old city was born in the Viking era. It was built over the centuries around the port (one of the best preserved in the country) overlooking the fjord. It was the birthplace of the navigator and explorer, Vitus Bering, who left his name to the famous strait! In the vicinity, there is a region nicknamed the Green Lagoon, the "Kongens Kær" which extends over more than 100 hectares: a wetland where many birds nest, ideal for walking. You can have a picnic on the outskirts of Ribe Landevej, tables are provided for this purpose.
