Just at the foot of the mountains Făgăraş, about 30 kilometres from the town of Făgăraş, the tourist resort of Sâmbăta is one of the privileged starting points for hikes in the massif. In particular, you can reach the Sâmbătei refuge from the monastery of Brâncoveanu, then set off to conquer the highest point in the country, Vârful Moldoveanu (2,544 metres above sea level). A few kilometres before the resort, in the village of Sâmbăta de Sus to which it is attached, you will see the Brâncoveanu palace, completely restored in 2010.
