Halfway between Brașov and Sibiu, the main attraction of this town of 35,000 inhabitants is its beautiful fortress, bordered by a stretch of water. Other points of interest include the Sfântul Nicolae church, built in 1697 and typical of the Brâncovenesc period. The center is organized around the block-lined Boulevard Unirii. The adjacent streets feature older, more colorful architecture.
