This small town, 3 km from the DMZ and 50 km northeast of Seoul, belongs to the Paju municipality. The area in which it lies is rich in monuments. From the capital, there's no need to stay overnight, as a day trip is perfectly feasible. On the surrounding hills, giant slogans in Korean try to persuade the other side: "the era of autonomy"(jaju sidae) in the north, "happiness before your eyes"(nunape haengbogi), "clothes, food, housing galore"(pungjokhan euisikju) in the south... It's a reminder that the war isn't over yet, and that even if the conflicts are no longer physical, they remain ideological.
