Situated on the southern branch of the Han River, Yeoju is worth a detour to the few historic sites nearby, Yeongneung and Silleuksa. The city has some culinary specialties such as spicy freshwater fish soup (minmul maeuntang), freshwater carp and turtle soup (yongbongtang) and cold noodles (makguksu) from Cheonseori. They can be enjoyed in restaurants near Silleuksa, among other places. Also worth mentioning is the Yeoju rice which is said to be one of the best in Korea, especially the chachae rice which was only served at court. From Seoul (Gyeongbu), there are 1 or 2 departures per hour (between 6:30 am and 10 pm)
