Without being in the middle of the countryside or really on the seaside, the town of Goyang fulfils the role of a holiday resort. Like many towns in the Gyeonggido region, it has historical sites but is especially famous for its foundation and floriculture industry. An important floral festival takes place there every spring. Seoul is so close that sleeping there is useless. You can get there and back during the day without any problem thanks to line 3 of the Seoul subway. For travellers who stay in the capital, a short hop on Goyang is a great way to get some fresh air without having to go too far away.
