Close to a vineyard area that produces a sweet wine (Hatten - the famous Balinese wine), Pura Pulaki (temple on the sea) is home to a colony of monkeys considered sacred. The monkeys, fed by the Balinese, are sometimes aggressive towards tourists. Like many other temples in Bali, this one commemorates the coming to the island of the priest Nirartha. A legend about the daughter of Nirartha gives some consistency to this place. It seems that he would have made his daughter invisible so that she escaped the assiduity of the king. The Balinese subject to hallucinations of invisibility, are called " Gamang"
