Our favorite cocktail bar is located in the Victoria Best Western Premier Hotel, between the train station and Bertoldsbrunnen Straße. Surprising? Wait until you see the rest. Classic decor, hushed atmosphere, not particularly original but comfortable: a good place for a quiet drink with your partner. But the real attraction lies elsewhere. Follow the stairs to the toilets and go down to the second bar: the Smoker Lounge. An immediate change of atmosphere! Here, the decor is much more original and elaborate, the atmosphere more relaxed and less formal. Sink into one of the quilted leather sofas and enjoy friendly, professional service, some of the best cocktails in town, a carefully selected playlist and a melting-pot, intergenerational atmosphere. As you may have guessed, this part of the establishment is a smoking area, and you can buy cigars to complete your journey in this Prohibition-inspired atmosphere. The menu is the same for both bars. Here, the cocktail is king, with a few classics such as mojitos and margaritas, and more original offerings such as the "Sage Old Buck" made with whisky, vanilla syrup, lemon, ginger beer, pear liqueur and sage. Of course, non-alcoholic cocktails are not to be outdone. For the less courageous: wines, champagnes and beers are also on the menu. The more expensive prices than elsewhere seem entirely justified in view of the quality of the offer and the experience on offer. In short, it's a door you have to dare to push, and an appearance you have to overcome, for an excellent evening out in Freiburg.

You can also take advantage of this sublime terrace in the afternoon, if you prefer a more leisurely pace. It's worth noting that it's open on Sundays in summer, which is not the case for many establishments in the center of town, and it's very much appreciated if you feel like cooling off after a day of wandering around the city. We recommend the Skajo bar for its social evenings, where you can rub shoulders with the fashionable people of Fribourg.

The sofas are comfortable, and you can go to the bottom of the bar, go down a few steps and find themselves in a charming inner terrace (where you can smoke) where you can use huge beer in a shoe-shaped glass. Special mention for waffles that are excellent, especially salt with salty butter (only where you will find in Freiburg). And to encourage you to come back, the proposals are different every day. You can enjoy your sweet and fresh juices and drinks, or even ice from the Hofeis brand (popular local brand) for the gourmands. You can also opt for the salty snack snacks. In the programme: Salted waffles, Flammkuchen, small pizzas, and this is the opportunity to test a house speciality directly related to the patronne's guadeloupéennes origins: the cod hat. Near the train station, in a slightly eccentric alley, one of the rédaction's favourite coffees is: the Freundsaft Café. Soups, salads, the sandwich box, but also Burger vegetarian, Buddah Bowl and salty waffles for the most adventurous. It's just good, very good. Freundsaft is the daring bet to show us that the kitchen vegan, so trendy, has taste. It's all right. We draw our hat and ask for it. You have understood all the excuses for venturing across the train station.

This coffee is mainly attended by students as a result of its prices and location although there are also some families. But what's also the reputation of coffee is its buffet "Eat all you can" breakfast. In the programme: Once again with scrambled eggs, cold meats, cheese, pasta, croissants, rice and even mini donuts. Necessarily considering the scope of the proposal and prices, don't expect an exceptional taste experience. You know what we say about quality-value-price… About the atmosphere, the watchwords are youth and relaxation. The hotel was very clean, but it was very noisy. The service is flawed: it's that they're overwhelmed and looks pretty pressurized. Finally, the Shaker Time starts at 19 pm with all the cocktails in a jumbo size at 6,45 €. In view of the kitchen we prefer this option so that you can enjoy the framework which is still very pleasant. What to spend a good evening in sum.
