A superb small town on the heights of the Neckar, where the river starts a beautiful curve. The many half-timbered houses in Bad-Wimpfen are worth a look. They make it possible to make a nice excursion from Heidelberg! Bad-Wimpfen was a free city under the Holy Roman Empire. It was the Staufen dynasty, of which Emperor Barbarossa was the most eminent representative, who ruled the city for several centuries. Stroll through the cobbled streets, discover the small fountains of medieval shapes, and look up to see the sometimes hidden details of the houses. Bad-Wimpfen is a spa town: nothing special to see here, except the hotel and the swimming pool where heart and bone patients come to relieve themselves. Finally, you should know that Bad-Wimpfen has the exclusivity of the particularly rare museums: you will find there the museum of the lucky pigs, a large collection of pig figurines (the largest in the world and probably the only one...), as well as a museum of the guardian angels...
