Founded in 1837, Picton is the seat of government for Prince Edward County. It is named after General Sir Thomas Picton, the Duke of Wellington's second in command at the Battle of Waterloo in Belgium. The small town of nearly 5,000 people has great shopping, market food restaurants, upscale inns, a beautiful marina and several green spaces. Main Street is the epicenter of the village, where almost everything is located, including the tourist office. Craft beer lovers are in for a treat here, as several breweries have set up shop in and around the city.
