This former fur-trading post owes its name to a hill shaped like a woolen cap(tuque in Québécois). The powerful waterfalls and surrounding forests gave rise to its pulp mill and hydroelectric power station. While the town itself is of little interest, one site is well worth a visit: Parc des Chutes-de-la-Petite-Rivière-Bostonnais. Access is free, and you'll find, among other things, the interpretation center and tour dedicated to the famous La Tuque-born Quebec chansonnier, Félix Leclerc. It's a great place for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, provided you have your own equipment.
