Founded in 1815 by Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick George Hériot, under the orders of Governor Sir Gordon Drummond, Drummondville was originally an agro-military garrison. Today, it is a major centre, an industrial town in the middle of agricultural land in the Centre-du-Québec region. Drummondville is a true geographic crossroads, at the intersection of highways 20 and 55, about an hour's drive from Montreal, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières and Sherbrooke. This particular situation, with the Saint-François River to complete its potential, has allowed this municipality to become a major industrial hub.
