Founded in the 18th century by settlers from New England, this vibrant port is one of the most important in the province. Most of the attractions are sea-themed. In the harbor, there is a constant flow of ferries to Bar Harbour (Maine, USA). Bar Harbour is on the doorstep of the splendid Acadia National Park (USA) and is not far from Northeast Harbour where Marguerite Yourcenar lived. In Yarmouth, we recommend a visit to the W. Laurence Sweeney Fisheries Museum, a museum dedicated to the town's maritime heritage, and the Cape Forchu Lightstation, a lighthouse that can be visited in the summer.
