This small village is located at the extreme south-western end of Lake Carrera. Created in the 1920s, it is one of the oldest settlements in the Aysén region. The first settlers prospered as soon as they arrived, starting to trade in sheep's wool. Its position with its large sandy beach has earned the village the nickname "Pearl of Lake Carrera". Puerto Guadal enjoys a microclimate that is attributed to the high peaks of the Cordillera and the continental ice fields. Called Chelenko by the Tehuelche people, the town is less touristy than its neighbor Puerto Tranquilo. It is a haven for fly fishermen and romantic hikers. One can observe the distant shores and the beauty of the lake.
