Its name means "water with pine nuts" in mapudungun. It is dominated by the Llaima volcano, whose snowy peak reaches 3,125 m. This protected park is home to native species such as araucaria or types of Nothofagus (coigüe, ñirre). In the native language, Llaima means "to resurrect" (last resurrection of the volcano: 2009). At the foot of the Sierra Nevada (north of the park), one can admire the lagoon Conguillío and, further south, the lagoons Arco Iris (rainbow) and Verde, lagoons between 100 and 600 years old. Note the heavy rainfall in winter and a mild summer.
