Kailashpuri is located 22 kilometers north of Udaipur. It is a tiny village with a dusty lane lined with a few stores selling religious items. The place houses a unique Hindu temple complex, Eklingji. The group of temples is directly under the royal family of Mewar, and the ruler and his family visit regularly for ceremonies and offerings. For a time, Kailashpuri was the capital of Mewar, although little or nothing remains of this period except the ruins of the old fort at Nagda. The village is situated on the banks of a lake which also has some ancient temples.
