38 km south of Marrakech, this town of nearly 4,000 inhabitants is built on the edge of the dam of the same name, offering a 7 km long stretch of water where it is pleasant to bask. The dam itself, which at the time was called the Cavagnac Dam, was commissioned in 1935 to irrigate the fertile plain of Haouz and to produce hydroelectric power. The engineer Cavagnac never saw his work completed, dying three years before its inauguration. You will see inscribed on it the motto "God, the Fatherland, the King". Its current name is a tribute to a woman marabout renowned for her healing power whose zaouia (religious building gathering a brotherhood) disappeared, buried under water during the construction of the dam on the N'Fis wadi. The lake has taken on mystical allure, becoming a source of many legends for local people. Today, it is a spot appreciated by tourists, widely frequented on weekends by the inhabitants of Marrakech who come to seek a little freshness, with the Atlas Mountains in the background. It is possible to practice many activities such as donkey rides, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, flyboarding. In another sporty genre, agencies organize day trips in quad or buggy to its shores. However, if you were planning to take a dip, you should know that swimming is officially prohibited
