30 km from Taroudant, Tioute is a haven of peace where nature seems to take over with its 20,000 palm trees spread over more than 1,000 hectares. It is reached by a road in good condition that crosses rocky plains dotted with argan trees and surrounded by the foothills of the Atlas. The light is splendid at sunset and sunrise. It is here that were shot in 1952 many scenes of the film Ali Baba and the 40 thieves and Le Boulet in 1999. Overlooking the Berber village of Tioute, the kasbah, four centuries old, dominates the valley. Its charm was withered by the construction of a panoramic restaurant and the earthquake of 1960. From there, the view is superb. You can also walk around it to admire the view. Be careful though, it's a bit dangerous. Behind the kasbah are the tomb of Rabbi Ben Sakin, the only remnant of the old Jewish cemetery, and an old Muslim cemetery that goes down to the palm grove. To visit the latter in peace, it is best to arrive before 10 am. To reach Tioute de Taroudant, follow the road for about 8 km in the direction of Marrakech, then turn right, drive about 11 km, cross the wadi before arriving at the kasbah of Freija, then continue in the direction of Irghem. A road to the right, 5 km long, leads you to the village of Tioute. If you do not have a car, you can take a collective cab from Taroudant (around 15 DH per person) or Agadir (around 30 DH per person). The normal cab ride from Agadir will cost you 700 DH.
