Sanski Most/Сански Мост has a population of about 19,000, 94% of whom are Bosniaks. It is the capital of the municipality of Sanski Most (population 45,000), which is part of the canton of Una-Sana (Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The city is 64 km west of Banja Luka, 93 km northwest of Jajce and 94 km east of Bihać. Bus connections: see bus station. The name of this town means "bridge of the Sana". But do not expect a beautiful Ottoman bridge. It has long since disappeared. Don't look for pretty buildings or old religious buildings either. Almost everything here was destroyed during the last two wars. On the other hand, there is still the river Sana, a large tributary of the Una that the Romans admired so much because it was "healthy"(sana in Latin). There are also its eight tributaries that converge in the heart of the city, coming down from the Hrustovo plateau in the west and from the Mulež mountain (1,013 m above sea level) in the east: the Dabar, the Sanica, the Bliha, the Japra, the Zdena, the Majdanska, the Sasinka and the Kozica. This is why Sanski Most is known as the "city of nine rivers". This is what makes its charm. Each neighborhood and each village lives by the water with its fish restaurants, waterfalls, small bridges and the stories that go with them. The surrounding area also offers beautiful landscapes in the Grmeč massif (1,604 m above sea level) or at the Ključ fortress, not to mention contemporary art, with two moving monuments of the partisans.
