In this small town we visit the house-museum of Nodar Doumbadze (1928-1984), a major author of the second half of the 20th century. He wrote realistic short stories with a tragi-comic tone, featuring so-called "typical" characters from the Georgian countryside. This falsely naive literary form makes a criticism of the Soviet Georgian society in power, of relations within the group, of religion, of corruption... His most famous novel, Me, Grandmother Illko and Illarion is often adapted for the theatre in Tbilisi. The city is beautifully situated at the foot of the valley from which the Soupsa River flows down the hills.
