Below the road, this small church is remarkable. Surrounded by a high wall, it deserves a stop for its refinement. It's a little gem. Its walls are worth a look; the wall hiding the apse is very studied. With a bit of luck, you may be able to attend a religious ceremony there, which is fascinating to observe. The church is very much alive. It is even more attractive. Before you leave, stop and buy a pot of honey, delicious, made by the monks. According to tradition, this church was founded in 572 by the Assyrian monk Isidore and then rebuilt in the 10th century. Nothing remains of the buildings erected during those periods. The central building that can be seen today was built in 1030. The complex was badly damaged in the following centuries in successive earthquakes. The church was partially restored during the 15th and 16th centuries. The eastern façade is the only remnant of the original church
